Who is Hilti?

For the sixth time in the past 11 years, Hilti has been named one of the best employers by Great Place to Work.
What began as a family business in 1941, founded by brothers Eugene and Martin Hilti, has become a leading industry player with over 120 locations worldwide and a workforce of more than 33,000 colleagues. Our incredible journey, from humble beginnings to a global powerhouse, is a shining example of the rewards of a hard-working and dedicated team.
At Hilti, we provide leading-edge tools, technologies, software, and services for the global construction industry and beyond. Our purpose is making construction better based on a passionate and inclusive global team and a caring and performance-oriented culture.
We invest a substantial amount of our annual profit to the Hilti Foundation, which focuses on initiatives that empower people to live independently and autonomously, contribute to building stronger societies, and create networks of competent partners to achieve sustainable and scalable impact.

What does the role involve?

As intern in our department you’ll have two equal roles in parallel.

In the first role you will be working with the project manager on a high-stakes global finance project with impact on costings and margins of most of the products Hilti sells. It is a high-pressure, high-visibility project involving topic experts and senior management. Your tasks will be diverse: mapping processes, analysing value chains, organising meetings and workshops, thorough notetaking of meetings with executives, preparing meeting pre-reads (slide decks, etc), project management office activities. Deliver outstanding results in all the above and we’ll expand your responsibilities.

In the second role you will be part of the team that ensures Hilti Group has accurate financial statements for steering our business and for external reporting. Some examples of activities you will work on:

  • Month and year-end financial closing for the Group in close cooperation with our subsidiaries across the world
  • Create content for our annual financial reports
  • Perform various financial analyses to help answer questions from senior management
  • Support to ensure our accounting and financial processes are always in line with the latest IFRS standards

"Interning in Hilti's consolidation financial team has been a dynamic journey. From improving technical skills to navigating complex organizational structures, the experience has helped me apply all my academic understandings, in real-world finance. I've learned to read personalities and adapt to diverse working styles, gaining insights that go beyond the numbers. The work culture instills life discipline, preparing you for any professional path. Starting my journey in a big company highlighted how even small tasks have significant impacts. Leaving Hilti, I carry a mix of newfound skills, a taste for real-world impact, and a strong recommendation for the experience. And you will love the interns community!" -Lidia

What do we offer?

Joining more than 2100 colleagues from over 70 nationalities at one of our headquarters locations in Schaan, Nendeln, or Buchs is more than a career move. It’s your opportunity to enjoy the energizing, alpine lifestyle - where Liechtenstein, Austria, and Switzerland seamlessly meet.
Share your interests and become a part of one of our employee groups leading change locally, for example, supporting female empowerment or the LGBTQ+ community or joining a leisure group for a Wednesday mountain bike ride or tennis match. If you are passionate about giving back to the community, we have various opportunities to volunteer through our engaged beyond business program locally and internationally.
Additional benefits of our headquarters location include shared e-bikes for your commute, an on-site gym, three restaurants, language courses, learning and development training opportunities, tax insurance, financial guidance, child care, relocation and spousal support, and more.

What you need is:

  • Enrollment in a Master’s program in finance, accounting, economics, IT or engineering for the entire internship period
  • Fluent English
  • Structured thinking and ability to communicate structured thoughts
  • Evidence of splitting up projects or assignments into individual tasks, setting deadlines and navigating obstacles to successfully deliver against these deadlines
  • Proficiency in numerical analysis and working with spreadsheets (Excel)
  • Affinity for using or quickly learning IT applications
  • Eye for detail with high self-standards of accuracy and quality
  • Evidence of interacting successfully with people of varying personalities and backgrounds (e.g. studies, work experience or extracurricular)

Why should you apply?

To succeed you need a broad, flexible mindset and be determined to make high-quality contributions. Conceptual brain work interests you as much as getting down and dirty in documents, spreadsheets and slide decks. You are adept at handling multiple topics in different subject areas at the same time. We expect that you are driven, independent and resilient to manage projects and tasks plus learn skills where needed.

We take our time to get to know you. As part of your recruitment process, you’ll get to talk to your internship coach as well as your HR Manager who both can answer some of your burning questions.

Hilti is an equal opportunity employer.
